In preparation for your laser hair removal treatment:
- Do not tan or have extended sun exposure within 1 week of your appointment
- Do not use self tanner on the areas to be treated within 1 week of our appointment
- Shave the treatment area within 24 hours of your appointment
- Do not wax or tweeze within 3 weeks of your appointment
Patients that are not candidates for laser hair removal include those who are:
- Currently taking Accutane or have taken Accutane within the last 6 months
- Have a history of or are at risk for melanoma
After your treatment you should expect:
- Redness, bumpiness and slight swelling in the treated area for up to 24 hours
- "Razor Burn" effect in the treated area for up to 72 hours
- When treated on the YAG laser, hair will begin to grow back lighter and softer. After 2-3 treatments you should expect minimal hair re-growth.
- When treated on the Alexandrite laser hair should "fall out" within 1-2 weeks of your first treatment. Do not pluck it out. You may use a dry towel or exfoliating scrub to help remove the hair. After 2-3 treatments you should expect minimal hair re-growth.
- Avrage patients can expect 20% hair reduction every treatment. Results vary.
- Extended exposure to sunlight or tanning beds is not recommended for at least 72 hours.
- If you experience any side effects such as skin discoloration, or extended redness or itching call Elase for instructions on treatment.
- To achieve the best results, complete the full treatment schedule at the intervals recommended by your physician or esthetician.
