There are a lot of questions around chemical peels, and today, I want to break it down to the basics and talk about chemical peels. This is one of my all-time favorite treatments. If this is the first time you’ve heard of chemical peels, you might think, “Yikes, that sounds scary!” One time I mentioned to my friend I was doing a chemical peel for my skin. She said, “Like a pill? How many do I take to see results?” No, a peel! Let’s talk about what a chemical peel is.
What Is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a mixture of ingredients that can be applied topically to the skin. The ingredients vary to target different concerns or skin types. Many may associate a peel being done on just the face, which is the most common area, but it can also be done on other areas such as the arms, hands, back, or neck.
What Do Chemical Peels Do?
I get asked all the time, “What does a chemical peel do?” A chemical peel reveals a brighter, smoother, and more refined complexion. You can do a series of peels to target concerns, such as pigment, fine lines, and/or acne, leaving your skin looking improved and feeling fabulous.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
You might wonder, “Am I a good candidate?” I say yes! Everyone is a candidate for a chemical peel. Make sure you see a licensed professional — an esthetician with experience. They will help you pick an ideal peel for you and customize a treatment plan.
