IPL, or intense pulsed light, is also known as the photofacial. The IPL has been the gold standard for facial rejuvenation for over a decade. The technology we use at Elase makes the IPL photofacial the safer and more effective option for our clients. These treatments utilize a broad band of light to address multiple concerns all in a single treatment. The photofacial is the ideal treatment for pigmented skin, as it clears away sunspots and age spots in a single treatment.

MOST COMMON QUESTIONS
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is also referred to as a photofacial, and it’s different from a laser because it uses a broad spectrum of light wavelengths in every pulse rather than just a single wavelength. That is why it is able to treat so many skin conditions in a single treatment.
Like all skin care treatments, the amount you need, depends on what you are trying to achieve. We usually recommend 2-3 treatments, about 6-8 weeks apart to get the full result.
You can expect to have some redness for up to 72 hour post treatment. Some clients, usually those with significant pigmentation, experience flaking 3-5 days after the treatment. And you need to plan to stay out of extended direct sunlight at least 2 weeks after your treatment.
A photofacial can be used anywhere on the body. The primary area this treatment is applied is the face and decollete, but other common areas include arms and back.
Because this treatment targets the pigment in your skin, it is primarily used for skin types 1 – 3 which are those clients with minimal pigment in their skin. Alternative treatments, like the eMatrix or Clear & Brilliant are ideal for our clients with darker skin.
The cost depends on how many treatments you need to reach your goals. At your initial consultation we will talk with you about what you are trying to achieve and give you an accurate quote upfront. We recommend considering an Elase membership to get the very best value for your investment.
All of our skin care clients will first meet with an Elase consultant. Our consultants are here to understand your goals and give you an idea of all of the options for treatment. They will discuss options like skin care, laser rejuvenation, and products and then create a plan that is specific to your goal.
Medical-grade skin care products, like those offered at Elase, make a significant contribution to your anti-aging results. Plus, using high-quality products make your results last longer. We always recommend that you think about skin care — not just in the spa, but also at home.
